Can wwPDF run multiple reports (FRX) into a single PDF? If not, can anyone suggest an alternative?

I have used the Minds Eye Report Engine to do this in the past, but I need a more stable solution.

It has always been my understanding that wwPDF is a wrapper for another PDR writer such as Adobe Acrobat. In this case the product that is wrapped would need to be able to handle the functionally you are desiring.

I personally used Acrobat 5 for many years with wwPDF and always found it to work OK. Then I discovered XFRX which was recommended to me by someone here, that was over eight years ago and I have used it ever since. XFRX can stitch multiple reports into one output file. And a lot more...

I think if you search the wwHelp Files for XFRX you will be able to find documentation about what Web Connect offers in support and from there you will most likely want to go to the XFRX web site and download a free trial version for testing.

On a side note, if you ever need to parse or search PDF files or for that matter modify them within VFP, I would suggest looking at Quickpdf. I have used it to stitch, renumber the pages after stitching add footers and watermarks and then print directly from within the application. Very cool stuff!

Good luck, hope this helps.

Bruce;

What I have discovered in my work in doing this is that XFRX creates an intermediate file with it's own extension - but you can open that file as a DBF and very easy concatenate the records by incrementing the page numbers of the records as you merge/import them!

This was a HUGE discovery for me and really made my PDF merging tasks as simple as you could imagine!

Ping back if you need me to dig out the details. This project was years ago so I'd have to find the code in question but once you look at the intermediate files as DBF's the organization will become apparent.
