I have Version 4.0, build 4.54. Is that not current?

But I'm working on a file that was created at least a year ago, not sure what version was used.

It appears that there is a limit of about 50 characters to the length of topic names.

Yes you can just change the field width in the table. FWIW, the topic width in the latest version is 80 characters not 50 so if you update to more recent version the field with should automatically update to that.
