No... no... not the techie kind of migration you geek! It's time for me to pick up my suitcase full of belongings and haul 'em on a plane back to Oregon for the summer. I'm in the middle of re-arranging my household here on Maui, locking up the house, storing all the toys away for the 'summer' and getting ready for my annual migration back to Hood River for a change of pace.
Man, it's been a really nice winter here on Maui with lots of slower times. Last year was a pretty hectic year for me with just way too much going on and constantly feeling under the gun so this year I decided I'm slowing down a little and try to live a little more, kicking back and hitting the water more often. Thankfully mother nature this year dished out a pretty good season for wave sailing here on Maui with lots of wind and waves actually coinciding. Incidentally I just packed up my camera and realized there were a few pictures left over from a couple of huge wave
days had over Easter here. Unfortunately I was too anxious to sit on the beach for more than a few impatient minutes to take pictures. All I managed is to capture one good shot that shows the size of some of the mackers that were going through. Notice the sailor in front of that closeout - mast is 15 feet, this thing was peeking at about 25 feet. Naturually Easter is the best holiday of the year!!!
Well, I'm off to Hood River tomorrow - no today actually, and I'm looking forward to a change of scenery. Maui is an awesome place, but when spring rolls around I'm ready to get off the rock for a little more environmental variety. Hood River is another awesome place with lots of outdoor activities, but lots more variety. On Maui everything centers around water activities. Windsurfing, surfing, occasional snorkeling... in Hood River there's much to do in the mountains especially the awesome mountain biking. Can't wait - gotta get off my fat ass and get some 'real' excercise again <g>
And all keeping me out of the office. Hey, I said I was going to take it easier this year <s>... Well, not really. I did make that resolution to take it easier, but as it turns out although I've spent much more time out side I think I've actually been much more productive this year - balance works wonders sometimes.
Timing's good to for tech stuff too. I noticed Scott Hanselman's giving a Silverlight talk in a special PADNUG user group meeting on Thursday and I hope to make it out there. Silverlight ought to really get Scott's brain going and I'll be very interested to hear his perspective on some of the cool stuff announced at Mix. My guess is for Scott the Dynamic runtime will be the kicker...
If you're in the Portland area - maybe I'll see 'ya there...
