So all of a sudden my Vista machine refuses to run any thing related to ClickOnce in the browser. This has been working in the past but a few weeks back when I tried to check out Markus' Xiine reader I noticed that I wasn't able to install it. When I click the link on the Xiine page for example nothing happens. No download, no error - no nothin'...

So being ever the cynic I gave Markus a hard time about this at first <s> until I started trying a few other links with ClickOnce content and found the same exact behavior. I also have a couple of simple application internally here that are accessible with ClickOnce in the local intranet and they too are not working.

Now it's not actually ClickOnce per se - it's the ClickOnce browser hosting that's apparently the problem. I can still download the ClickOnce application to disk and then run it locally. It works, but it's unfortunately become ClickMany!

I'm not sure what's up. I went ahead and did a repair install for the .NET framework 2.0 and then for the 3.0 components (Xiine is a WPF app), but that too didn't help so I'm kind of baffled. To be sure I went through my IE settings and also added the Xiine site to my trusted sites but still no luck...

The irony is that I can make this work in FireFox by using this ClickOnce PlugIn by James Dobson, but I'd still like to get the ability to run this in IE back.

Has anybody run into this before and seen any workarounds? Searching around seems to point at a lot of different kinds of problems with ClickOnce not working in the browser, but it doesn't seem like any of the links point out much more than security issues which I think is not the case here...
