San Francisco July 2001
I finally made it back down to the Bay Area to catch up with old friends and get around to playing some music. It was a long trip down - I decided to drive this time so I could take my sailing gear. In this year's fashion, sailing was not to be - no wind for almost the entire time I spent around the Bay.

But at least I did get out a bunch to see some cool shows and hang out with Chris Kontos to record some new music. I don't think I've had this much fun in a long time...

  • Long drive down - 10 hours each way in the blasting heat with holdiday traffic on the way... Eeek. At least I could get a tan with the sun roof <g>...
  • And who says you can't live on Easy Street??? Sign found near Mt. Shasta...
  • And there's Mt. Shasta from the road. Not much snow left this time of the year.
  • Staying at Mom's pad...
  • Alright - don't get all touchy feely here... Grrr! <bg>
  • Mom and her flowers in beautiful, scenic, downtown Concord...
  • Is it time to get up, already (it's only noon)...
  • Alright then - if I must get up: Daily morning fruit shake. Vitamin slams, baby!!!
  • Chris and Laura on a night out in Oakland's bar scene. NOT!
  • Beer - GOOD (sweeping motion with hand). And no - not my Budweiser <g>...
  • Isabella "gettin' pretty"... Oh man, one prissy little girl coming up...
  • Jackson Street Studios - hanging with Kontos and his new band Mad Servants. Chris and I also played here later.
  • Mad Servants at Jackson Street
  • Kontos pounding it... why is it that pictures never capture the intensity of a drummer, huh?
  • Oh no... DRUM FACE. Run away, run away!!!
  • Close up of Drum Face... now *that* is really scary!!!
  • Nice pants dude <s>. Dave being in his own little world while playing...
  • The band hanging out at the studio
  • Tony and Bosko goofing around. These guys will never have a straight photo in this batch...
  • A bunch of smart alecs with a few beers in 'em...
  • Out into the wilderness... Riding a 50 pound rental bike in 100 degree plus heat. What the hell was I thinking???
  • Anybody in there?
  • Made it - top of the summit at Mitchell Canyon. Long way to come in this heat...
  • One happy family - Chris, Donna and Cody and the Rude dog...
  • Night out eating a shitload of Sushi at Blowfish... it pays to have friends in the right places <g>...
  • Chris and Gwynne
  • Bean heads
  • Arrghh... none of the stage pictures turned out, although a few have some, uh, nice blurry effects. Death Angel rocking the house...
  • One bite - right off!!! That roll was definitely NOT small!!!
  • I fit it, I fit it!!! Well, sort of...
  • Presentation is everything?
  • Sucking down oysters. First time - I think I can live without it!
  • You're going down, man!!!

  • Sick Inside - Johnny Walker Edition. Chris doing his Phil Anselmo vocal overdubs <bg>... Walk on home boy!!! Those vocals turned out killer, man!!!
  • Chris K. and Andy with his, uh wife <g>... Maybe I'll see 'ya in Maui for your honeymoon, eh?
  • A Ruthies moment - a few of the people from the days long gone by: Rob, Chris, Rick and Sean.
  • Ok - to more obnoxious days... Hmmm. Alright, maybe not. Drinking *water* isn't exactly part of the SR*R'nR plan, is it??? <s>
  • The man - William Howell - with his steel lockbox full of records to get signed by all the bands. Alright, alright I'll sign the damn thing already <g>...
  • Gary Holt with his typically enthusiastic mode <g>. Flash Gordon stage outfit optional, bra...

  • I'm not going to ask Rob... hanging out in lounge clubs too much lately, yah?
  • Again, what up with the grimace???? A bunch of tired guys arriving from a long tour ride. Oh yeah, and Monique - Rob's wife...
  • What's going on here? Hey, man, Joey you look a little stressed, but hey, it all went real smooth for that many bands in a single night!
