I fuehl mich gut, ich steh auf Berlin - Ideal circa 1980

Well, not quite... Coming back to Berlin (my birth city) after 7 years wasn't all that exciting. I just realized that after growing up in Berlin I didn't know a damn soul in that town other than my dad. Pretty sad, come to think of it... well, it's been almost 20 years since I left for the States, but I literally have no roots there at all. Good to see the old man.

It's interesting how Berlin is beoming Americanized. The locals seem to be stoked with all the new development of the big money American conglomerates turning the city into a mini-American shopping mall. oh well, money plays the game...

At least I learned why German Bier all tastes the same - Das Deutsche Reinheitsgebot von 1516 requires that the same crap goes into each Bier.

  • Sony complex. This is another climate controlling mechanism. Here the flaps open and close depending on temperature and regulate the sunlight that comes in.

    Can you spell a tremendous waste of money???? Corporate America here we come.
  • Ok, this was cool. Mirrors are used to control the climate inside of the Reichstag. The mirrors angle and thus control the light and temperature inside. Pretty cool. The cabinet meets below the glass on the bottom.
  • And again - this time from the bottom. The mirrors again and the blind in the background. The blind follows the sun during the cause of the day so the sun (when it's ever out in Berlin) is never directly hitting the inside of the building.
  • Teufelsberg - ein kleines Huegelchen in Berlin. This tiny little bump in the road is the highest 'mountain' in Berlin. You can get up it in 5 minutes <s>... Funny to see the mountain bikers on the hill.
  • Like father like son. Yeah right. Franzoesischer Platz with some putzy statue that the pidgeons love to shit on...
  • Brandenburger Tor im Osten. Beautiful weather with pelting rain. No that's not a smile - that's a grimace from the sleeting rain hitting my face!
