The last few weeks have been quite hectic with work. As you can probably tell by the slowdown in posts here… I’ve been focusing some resources on my tools and a few re-writes of internal applications along with a several time consuming projects for various customers. It’s been interesting to juggle all that at the same time…
Things are getting back to normal now and I’m only juggling 2-3 projects and a couple of articles to write, but I’ve reached my burnout point. I’ve had it – I’m getting out… well, temporarily.
Looked at the weather for the coming weekend and saw there’s some snow headed into British Columbia and so yesterday I bought a plane ticket and today I’m off to Portland to hook with a friend of mine to drive up to Whistler for the long weekend for a snowboard trip Thursday through Monday.
It’s been way too long since I’ve seen snow. The last time was a trip to Utah about 3 years ago. It’s going to be tough to top that Utah trip though – we lucked out big time in hitting fresh powder and no crowds. Fat chance on a holiday weekend at Whistler. But what the hell – I’ve gotta get a way change of scenery. Island Fever is starting to set in and I jumped at the opportunity to get off the island for a few days.
I’m stoked, but man it’s been a long time. I’m not sure how out of shape I actually am for snowboarding. Snowboarding uses muscles that have no right to be excercised and then there’s always the fun boot burn after not snowboarding for a while. I can’t wait…
The only bummer is that the same storms that are hitting the mainland will also kick up a good swell here on Maui, and it looks like it’ll be windy to boot. But hey, there’s more where that came from <g>…
