September 29, 2005 @ 11:24 am

Ever need to drag and drop an object into a text box at the drag and drop mouse cursor location in Visual FoxPro? Sounds easy but due to the way the drop content is managed you need to figure out where to put the text inside of the textbox.

September 23, 2005 @ 10:17 pm

Noise Cancelling for guitar tone? Pretty funny but it'd be interesting to know what it does to boost the apparent volume and clarity of the sound.

ClearType had to go
September 20, 2005 @ 11:45 am

My use of ClearType lasted 2 months and it has to go. I've been having major problems with my eyes while using ClearType, getting headaches and eye aches ( really - eyes feel really tight). Yesterday I switched back to just plain text and the physical symptoms disappeared almost immediately.

September 08, 2005 @ 3:55 pm

There's been a lot of cross-pollination between ideas I've built on in .NET and my FoxPro upgrade to Web Connection. A lot of framework stuff is sloshing back and forth between the two platforms that's providing some interesting side benefits.

FoxPro and COM typelibrary creation
September 04, 2005 @ 10:51 pm

If you're using COM with VFP you may have run into a nasty problem that doesn't allow VFP to create a typelibary containing parameters, return values or property types of other classes/interfaces that exist in the current project. Calvin posted a solution to this problem the other day and here is some additional information around the topic.

Determining class bases - or how to fake an interface identity with VFP
September 04, 2005 @ 5:58 pm

Visual FoxPro doesn't support interfaces which can become a problem if you deal with overloaded methods that can receive a variety of objects. In order to figure out the type of object used you need to resort to some - uh, hack techniques that are expensive in processing.
