Occasional Computer Faxing?

I’ve been using eFax for quite some time to receive faxes and that works great. eFax is free for most things and it’s been reliable and working for years. Occasionally though I need to SEND faxes as well and the free eFax account doesn’t help with that. While I have a Fax machine in my office, while traveling faxes are a huge pain in the ass. It’d be a heck of a lot easier if companies would provide email addresses and allow sending attached documents instead of faxes, but I suppose this is a security issue (in this case it happens to be my Credit Card Merchant Provider).

So, I’ve been using eFax for free, and I wouldn’t mind paying a small fee per Fax sent (even if it's like a $1) but no – eFax’s next step up is a $12.95 plan, which is a bit steep to send like 1 fax a month or so and maybe 3 legit faxes I receive a month.

Anybody have any suggestions for a cheap Fax Sending service that works on the Web or via email that they’ve had a good experience with?

I've looked at and used almost every fax service out there. My favorites are send2fax.com and maxemail.com. Compared to eFax, both these services offer much cheaper plans with more features and, in my experience, a higher quality of service.

I've used http://www.faxaway.com/rates.shtml on a trial basis years ago when it first came out. It was fast and realible. You just pay for outgoing faxes at a per minute rate I think it is. $10 deposit to start up. $1 a month maintenance fee.

I have used maxemail.com for years now. This is a great service. For $60 or $70 per year (when paying annually) you get your own local fax number that doubles as a voice mail box. Faxes and voice messags are e-mailed to you.

You can even send faxes right out of your e-mail client (though I have only played with this a little I did verify that it worked).

I ended up signing up for MaxEmail a couple of days ago and got to use it a bit these last few days as I was travelling and needed to send several faxes. So far so good. I think I'll also switch over my Fax address from EFax as my EFax number receives so much junk these days...

I didn't see anything for direct Outlook integration. I think I would like that actually...

I've got a number of clients using maxemail to send their orders via fax, thousands per month. The service is excellent. A few problems with overload long-distance carriers and with login problems were resolved quickly and professionally by the maxemail staff.

Maxemail also has a $14.95 per year plan if you only need low-volume (or incoming only) work.

I had my own dreadful experience with the eFax customer service.
I was recently charge more then $300 for some mysteries services, the invoice was hard to decipher, cluttered with service adjustment items.
In response to my eMail I was requested to call the call center.
The rep on the phone started with reading out to me a standard text of the screen, this took several minutes and was not less confusing then the bill itself.
It was only after I had interfered that she was willing to investigate the issue.
At that moment I was so much frustrated that I decided to cancel the service.

I trust MyFax as far as Internet and computer Fax services are concerned. I tested many services and MyFax is the one I like and trust the most. It is definitely the best quality product with the best service care. Check their website - www.myfax.com - a winner for sure!

You can use www.faxsv.com if you want to receive your faxes occasionally. It's free and no need to subscribe. It's also good to send a regular fax to somebody who don't have any fax number.
